Minor Use of Firearms Policy

As stated in the Range Safety Rules, the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club policy regarding minors and young adults is as follows:

Shooting

Handguns:

Handgun shooters must be at least 21 years old.

Shooters between 18 and 21 years old must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or legal guardian; OR must have written permission from their parent or legal guardian, and must be supervised by a responsible adult at least 21 years old.

Minors (less than 18 years old) must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or legal guardian; OR must have written permission from the minor's parent or legal guardian, and must be supervised by a responsible adult at least 21 years old.

Rifle and Shotgun:

Rifle and shotgun shooters must be at least 18 years old.

Minors (less than 18 years old) must be accompanied and supervised by their parent or legal guardian; OR must have written permission from the minor's parent or legal guardian, and must be supervised by a responsible adult at least 18 years old.

Air and BB Guns:

Air rifles and pistols shooting pellets only have the same restrictions as do rifles and shotguns. BB guns of any type are not allowed on our range.

Under Age 7:

Minors under the age of seven (7) years old are not allowed on the shooting range.

Ammunition Sales

Handgun Ammunition:

Must be at least 21 years old.

Rifle and Shotgun Ammunition:

Must be at least 18 years old.

I, (Name of Parent or Legal Guardian) ___________________________________ , being the parent or legal guardian of (Name of Child) ___________________________________________, who is (Age of Child) _______ years old, hereby give my child express permission and consent to be loaned and possess firearms (handguns and long guns) and ammunition to engage in lawful, recreational sport shooting, including target practice, and/or a course of instruction in the safe and lawful use of any firearms at the Los Altos Rod and Gun Club (LARGC). As used in this form, "firearms" includes any handguns, long guns, or shotguns that may be lawfully loaned to and possessed by a minor under state and federal law. (Cal. Penal Code §§ 27945, 29610, 29615, 29650, 29655, 19915, 16250; 18 U.S.C § 922(x)).

Further, in my absence, I authorize (Name of Responsible Adult) _____________________ to act as the Responsible Adult, who is 18 years old or older for long guns; 21 years old or older for handguns, and is not prohibited by Federal, state, or local law from possessing a firearm, to supervise my child while participating at LARGC.

I hereby agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless all LARGC officers, employees and members from all losses, damages, causes of action, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys fees arising from any false statements or representations made by me herein, and negligence or any act of omission, of the above-named child. I represent that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor named above and not prohibited by Federal, state, or local law from possessing a firearm.
